Creating Beach Huts on Illustrator

I started the process by drawing out the beach hut in its simplest form. this was REALLY helpful in terms of creating an initial shape that worked well and looked fairly 'realistic' in terms of the way shapes and angles of the building work.

INITIAL WORRIES

  • i don't want the beach huts to look too conformed and simple. this is an issue that i have found when creating images on illustrator with my little knowledge, its also something that ill have to overcome.
HOW WILL I SOLVE THIS?

  • i will be even more experimental with the colour and the composition of the piece to avoid it looking to straight and unimaginative.

In order for the colours to work together as a postcard, i thought about using a colour in all of them in order for it to be coherent and effective. i really like the way i have considered these colours, i think this was definitely a very important aspect that i considered well in the developmental process.

i completed the illustration by adding a third beachut, i think the link between all three of the huts works very well adding elements such as a line of sight and sense of depth in terms of the way that i have positioned them on the page.

similarly to the miami postcard, i have looked at the same colour palette for the background, i have decided to go for the greyish tones and like how these work coherently with the brighter colours in the foreground. in the same way as the miami postcards, i think this is an important factor to consider in the creation of the postcards.

To add another element of detail into the postcards, i added the texture on to the sand, i think this adds another layer and gives a further sense of depth. I'm really happy with how this particular postcard has turned out and i really want to continue working in this way for the other two postcards.
Again, i will wait until my crit for this project until i make any other drastic changes.
