Photoshoot and Aesthetics - further inspiration

I have been collecting images that inspire me and images and themes that I enjoy the aesthetics of on pinterest.

This has been a massive help to me in terms of gathering images and inspiration for the photoshoot and the creation of the props and bible for the project.

Most of the imagery is based on fashion and culture from the late 90's to early 2000's and includes designer branding, bright colours and a lot of fur materials and textures in the clothing.
The rise of technology in this era was a turning point and based on that idea I am basing the imagery and themes of the props and photoshoot alongside the bible on this decade of culture.

I have been planning the photoshoot and costumes/props around this aesthetic and I really feel that my dedication to this will ensure for a successful body of work.

INTERNET VIRGIN MARY TEST SHOOT

Before the actual photoshoot I thought it would be a good idea to test some poses and outfits that would be used in the shoot.
I've been researching paintings of the virgin mary to get inspiration of poses and the way that she wears her clothing in order to re-create this in my own way..

VIRGIN MARY INSPO

I have used a similar roughing method as I did with my context of practice work as I found this an extremely effective way to produce and create work.
By creating and experimenting by doing I was able to see what works well and what doesn't.

TEST SHOT PHOTOSHOOT

From these images I was able to narrow down the poses that worked best for the photoshoot, I then began to edit these in a way that I would like the lighting and colouration of the images to look.

SELECTED IMAGES

Following on from this I began to use the colouring that I have been looking at for inspiration images  in order to see what the photoshoot in the studio could potentially look like.
This also allowed me to see how the colouring changed the tones of the clothing and makeup.

FINAL TEST SHOTS

OPINIONS

Overall I'm really pleased with these test shots have turned out, I really like the poses and clothing that have I selected and I feel confident to go forward into the final studio shoot.

I really think the blonde wig works better and looks better overall rather than my natural hair.
A thought I did have about my red hair is that red is often associated with the devil and 'evil' which doesn't relate to the photoshoot idea at all.
The blonde fringe brings a lighter air to the photoshoot.

The lighting will look a lot more effective in the shoot itself as it will be from studio lights but I'm definitely confident to go ahead with the pink lighting idea.

I will still take a mixture of clothing ideas into the final shoot in order to get a range and a good selection of shots for the internet bible.

Again, I'm happy with the makeup selection but I feel that this is down to my research before hand, I'm unsure about the gem stone eyebrows, but again, I feel that I can experiment with them both on and off in the final shoot.

 NEXT STEPS

My next steps are to finalise all of the accessories and props for the photoshoot.
